Understanding inter-organizational trust among integrated care service provider networks: A perspective on organizational asymmetries

The objective was to explore the factors that influence trust among the integrated healthcare service provider network in the context of seeking combined health and care services in the UK.
Their findings reveal that trust among integrated care service provider networks is influenced by the following factors on various asymmetries: 1) recognition and knowledge asymmetries among care service partners of each other’s skills, expertise and capabilities; 2) capacity and financial imbalances within the network; and 3) organizational differences in management, culture and attitudes toward change.

The determinants of access to information on the Internet and knowledge of health related topics in European countries

The aim of this study is to analyze the determinants of access to health-related information on the Internet and their influence on perceived knowledge of health-related topics in European countries. Referring to the European citizens’ digital health literacy survey and applying structural equation modelling hypotheses, the obtained results showed that assumption of acceptance of information and capacity level are the main determinants which have the biggest influence on the perception of access to health-related information on the Internet. How to transfer good practices in integrated care internationally: From self-assessment to knowledge transfer and improvement in care

The challenge of an ageing population is faced by many regions and countries in Europe, and integrated care is a recognised solution to it. Increasing the readiness and capacity of regions to be able to implement integrated care is crucial. Using concept mapping to identify policy options and interventions towards people- centred health care services: a multi stakeholders perspective

People-centred health care (PCC) services are identified by the WHO as important building blocks towards universal health coverage. In 2016 the WHO formulated a comprehensive framework on integrated PCC services based on an international expert consultation. Yet, expert opinions may fail to recognize the needs of all health system stakeholders. Therefore, a consultation method that includes the health workforce and laypersons, can be instrumental to elaborate this framework more in-depth. This research sought to identify participants’ perspectives on policy options and interventions to achieve people-centred health care services from a multi stakeholder perspective.

Innovation of the governance of integrated care

Interest in integrated care is growing. This is reflected in the rising numbers of scientific publications, IJIC’s increased impact factor and the increasing number of participants at IFIC’s international conferences. It is stimulating to see that organizations like the World Health Organisation are developing conceptual frameworks that embrace integrated care. At the same time we know that integrated care does not become reality automatically; it takes a long timeframe. That can be conflicting with ambitions like ‘implementing good practices as fast as possible’ and with the pressure to deliver results in politically set tight time frames.

Does the Patient-centered Medical Home Model Change Staffing and Utilization in the Community Health Centers?

Few studies have looked under the hood of practice redesign to understand whether and, if so, how staffing changed with the adoption of patient-centered medical home (PCMH), and whether these staffing changes impacted utilization. So the objective of this article was to examine the workforce transformation occurring in community health centers that have achieved PCMH status, and to assess the relationship of those changes to utilization, as measured by the number of visits.

The value proposition of including patients at each step of the research process is that patient perspectives and preferences can have a positive impact on both the science and the outcomes of comparative effectiveness research. How to accomplish engagement and the extent to which approaches to community engagement inform strategies for effective engagement need to be examined to address conducting and accelerating comparative effectiveness research.
The objective was to examine how various perspectives and diverse training lead investigators and patients to conflicting positions on how best to advance engagement.
