UN Decade of Healthy Ageing – The Platform
The United Nations has proclaimed 2021–2030 the Decade of Healthy Ageing, with WHO leading international action to improve the lives of older people, their families and communities. The UN Decade of Healthy Ageing is a global collaboration that brings together diverse sectors and stakeholders including governments, civil society, international organizations, professionals, academic institutions, the media and the private sector to improve the lives of older people, their families and communities. The collaboration focuses on four action areas that are strongly interconnected:
Area 1. Combatting Ageism: changing how we think, feel and act towards age and ageing;
Area 2. Age-friendly Environments: developing communities in ways that foster the abilities of older people;
Area 3. Integrated Care: delivering person centred integrated care and primary health services responsive to older people; and
Area 4. Log-term Care: providing older people who need it with access to long-term care. To make the Decade of Healthy Ageing a success, everyone working to improve the lives of older people, their families, and their communities requires equitable and democratic access to a large amount of knowledge.
To meet this need, the Platform is designed to be an inclusive, collaborative space where all knowledge relevant for the Decade can be accessed, shared, and interacted with in one place by everyone around the world.
What kind of knowledge is available?
VOICES is about listening to the stories and perspectives of older people, their families, and communities, and working with them through meaningful engagement, because the process of change ignites when someone decides to listen.
RESOURCES brings together knowledge (publications, multimedia, databases & repositories, commentaries, decade news, and decade events) that you can use to improve the lives of older people, their families, and their communities.
THE CONNECT HUB will help you find organisations, networks, and people to collaborate with to create a world for all ages.
THE INNOVATE HUB provides a space where knowledge about what stakeholders are doing to push boundaries can be shared, and opportunities to collaborate and seek funding for your own initiatives can be communicated (including calls).
The SUPPORT HUB shares Toolkits and Training Programmes that are freely available for anyone to use and that can help provide capacity building and concrete guidance to help create a world where all people can live long, healthy lives.
Join governments, civil society, businesses, and other organisations around the world in the pledge to take meaningful action to improve the lives of older people, their families and communities.
