The relationship between person-centred care and the intensive care unit experience of critically ill patients: A multicentre cross-sectional survey

Person-centred care has the potential to improve the patient experience in the intensive care unit (ICU). The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between person-centred care and the ICU experience of critically ill patients. We observed that person-centred care was positively related to most of the ICU experiences of critically ill patients except for recall of experience.

Tailored patient therapeutic educational interventions: A patient-centred communication model

Tailoring therapeutic education consists of adapting the intervention to patients' needs with the expectation that this individualization will improve the results of the intervention. The influence of nursing home managers’ leadership on person-centred care and stress of conscience: A cross-sectional study

Leadership and stress are common concepts in nursing, and this study explores empirically the connection between leadership and stress of conscience in the context of aged care practice. Community Perceptions of Person-Centered Maternity Care in Migori County, Kenya

Community perceptions of quality of maternal healthcare services—including Person-centered maternity care (PCMC)—influences the health-seeking behavior of women. his study aimed to examine community perceptions of PCMC and its associated factors. The findings imply that community perceptions of PCMC, particularly related to communication and autonomy, are poor. Given the effects of these perceptions on use of maternal health services, there is a need to improve PCMC.

This review has generated new perspectives on the leadership of integrated care teams and systems that can be built upon, developed, and tested further.

Linkage to TB care: A qualitative study to understand linkage from the patients’ perspective in the Western Cape Province, South Africa

Delayed linkage to tuberculosis (TB) treatment leads to poor patient outcomes and increased onward transmission. Between 12% and 25% of people diagnosed with TB are never linked to a primary health care facility for continued care. The health care system, especially in hospitals, should focus on strengthening patient-centred care. Communication and clear messaging on TB processes is key, to prepare patients in transitioning from a hospital setting to PHC facilities for continuation of care.

Integrating Sexual and Reproductive Health Services Within HIV Services: WHO Guidance

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that sexual and reproductive health services, including contraception, may be integrated within HIV services. Integration is associated with increased offers and uptake of sexual and reproductive health services, including contraception, which is likely to result in improved downstream clinical outcomes. Integrating HIV and sexual and reproductive health services has been found to improve access, the quality of antenatal care and nurse productivity while reducing stigma and without compromising uptake of care.

Workforce Development in Integrated Care: A Scoping Review

Integrated care aims to improve access, quality and continuity of services for ageing populations and people experiencing chronic conditions. However, the health and social care workforce is ill equipped to address complex patient care needs due to working and training in silos. This paper describes the extent and nature of the evidence on workforce development in integrated care to inform future research, policy and practice.

Designing a person-centred integrated care programme for people with complex chronic conditions: a case study from Catalonia

The prevalence of people with complex chronic conditions is increasing. This population’s high social and health needs require person-centred integrated approaches to care. We developed an evidence-based integrated care programme tailored to high-need patients combining input from patients, caregivers, and healthcare and social care professionals. Patients’ and caregivers’ main priorities were to ensure (a) comprehension of information provided by healthcare professionals; (b) coordination between patients, caregivers, and professionals; (c) access to social services; (d) support to caregivers in managing situations; (e) perceived support throughout the healthcare process; (f) home care, when available; and (d) a patient-centred approach
