The FM Pivot Module "Mental Health Tools for Family Physicians in a Post-COVID World" is now available!

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the largest and most rapid disruption to the practices and training of family physicians since the inception of our profession in the mid-20th century. It has revealed gaps in the capacity of our health care systems, but it has also led to a surge in resiliency, innovation, and gained experience as primary care providers and educators adapt to this new paradigm. We have an opportunity to expand on this interest and energy to collectively strengthen our system and build our capacity to manage the next emergent crisis when it arises.

The FM Pivot Educational Initiative has been developed by a team of global Besrour Centre partners to help family physicians and family medicine educators prepare for similar challenges in the future within their own contexts. It will feature interactive educational modules, platforms for discussion, and opportunities for sharing resources.

To access these modules (currently available in English only), register for free at fmpivot.ca.

Besrour Centre - Call for Proposals: Global Co-RIG Phase II

The Besrour Centre for Global Family Medicine (Besrour Centre) at the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), thanks to the generous support of Dr. Sadok Besrour and the CFPC’s Foundation for Advancing Family Medicine (FAFM), is seeking proposals for a Global COVID-19 pandemic innovation response for grants up to $50,000 Canadian dollars (CAD). The primary care response to COVID-19 must support innovation that targets and protects highly vulnerable populations that lack access to primary care.

Projects on mental health integration using a team-based approach are especially encouraged.

This initiative is a response to the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health and well being of nations. The pandemic has put immense pressure on health systems and as we move towards a post-pandemic phase, the focus is shifting towards building resilient primary health care.

The goal of Phase II of Global Co-RIG is to support family practice / primary care innovations that improve access to services and respond to the long-term effects of the pandemic, such as mental health, especially for the most vulnerable communities and those living in remote areas. The family practice innovations that are likely to have a high degree of impact include education innovations, practice innovations, use of technology, and responses that address equity and inclusion. The request for proposal will contribute to the achievement of how family innovative practice will have a high degree of impact in reducing the long-term harms of COVID-19.

Submission Deadline:  March 20, 2023, 5P.M. (ET)

Submit to:  Besrourcentre@cfpc.ca
